Montreal, August 31th, 2016 – The Good Food Box wishes to advise the public that the consolidation of collective purchases that involved selling fresh fruits and vegetables will cease operations permanently as of today.
Since 2007, the Good Food Box (GFB) has joined more than 60 000 people annually, through a distribution network of over than 128 dropping points, with the common objective of serving fresh fruits and vegetables at the lowest price possible through the Greater Montreal.
Given the current circumstances and economic constraints, the Good Food Box cannot pursue its core mission, which is of providing access to fruits and vegetables for the lowest cost to the most vulnerable families without substantially increasing the prices of the boxes.
The temporary shutdown this summer was needed to stop the unnecessarily increase of the debt. We thought we could be able to find funding to ensure the long term sustainability of the organization, but unfortunately this was not the case.
This is unfortunate and we imagine the impact that this closure on several families of Greater Montreal. We thank you for your loyalty and we are pleased to have contributed to the welfare and health of the population in all these years.
The partners of the following regions will continue the service : Laval, Laurentides et Lanaudière.
